These terms apply when you book a safari or trip with SafariBox Africa (“we”, “us”, “our”). Please read them together with our Privacy Policy. By paying a deposit, you accept these terms.
We plan and organise safaris and trips in Kenya. Many services in your trip are provided by other businesses, such as lodges, camps, hotels, park and reserve authorities, airlines, balloon operators and boat operators (“suppliers”). For those services, we act as your coordinator. Each supplier’s own terms and limits of liability also apply, and we will share the ones that matter on request. We are responsible for the services we run ourselves, such as planning your itinerary and, where we provide them, our guides and vehicles.
A quote is not a booking. A quote stays valid for 14 days unless it says otherwise, because lodge availability and prices change. Your booking is confirmed when we receive your deposit and send you a written confirmation by email or WhatsApp.
Each quote lists what is included and what is not. Unless the quote says otherwise, these are not included: flights, visas and eTA fees, travel insurance, drinks, tips, personal items and optional activities such as balloon rides.
Prices are shown in the currency on your quote. Park fees, conservancy fees, lodge rates, taxes and exchange rates can change. If a cost rises before you have paid in full, we may adjust your price and we will tell you in writing. Once you have paid in full, we will not increase the price.
If the balance is late, we may treat your booking as cancelled by you under section 5.
You must tell us in writing, by email. Your cancellation takes effect on the day we receive it. The share of the total trip price that we keep depends on how many days remain before your arrival date:
These are minimum amounts. If our suppliers charge us more, we pass on the difference and show you the supplier’s charge. We do not refund unused services, late arrivals or early departures.
Ask us in writing as early as you can. We will try to make the change and will tell you the cost, including any charges from suppliers, before you agree.
We may change your itinerary, lodge or vehicle if safety requires it or if a supplier cannot serve you. We will offer something of the same standard or better wherever we can. If we cannot, and you do not accept the change, you may cancel and we will refund what you paid, less costs we cannot recover from suppliers.
If we cancel for a reason within our control, we refund everything you paid for that trip.
Some events are outside anyone’s control, for example floods, road or park closures, strikes, civil unrest, disease outbreaks, government travel limits and flight disruption. In these cases, we will offer you a new date or a refund of the amount we recover from suppliers, less costs already paid that we cannot recover.
Safaris take place in the wild. We cannot guarantee that you will see any animal, including the Big Five. The timing of the wildebeest migration and river crossings changes every year, so we cannot guarantee them either. Weather and road conditions can change plans. These are not reasons for a refund.
You are responsible for a valid passport, your Kenya eTA or visa, any visa for countries you pass through, and any vaccinations or certificates required for your travel. We can point you to the right information, but we cannot get personal travel documents for you.
Many safari areas are far from hospitals. Please see your doctor before travelling if you have a medical condition or are pregnant. Tell us before you book about any health, mobility, dietary or other needs so we can plan safely. We will do our best, but we cannot always meet every need in every location. We handle this information as described in our Privacy Policy.
You must have travel insurance for the whole trip. It should cover illness, injury, medical evacuation, cancellation, delays and loss of baggage or personal items. We do not sell insurance. You pay for any cost your insurance does not cover.
Please follow your guide’s instructions at all times. Stay inside the vehicle where parks require it, do not feed or approach animals, and do not fly a drone without the required permits. Respect lodge rules and local communities. We may end your trip without refund if someone’s behaviour is unsafe, unlawful or abusive.
Some lodges and activity operators set minimum ages, for example for balloon flights. Children must travel with a parent or guardian, who is responsible for them throughout the trip.
Lodge categories such as Budget, Mid-range and Luxury are a guide to standard. If your chosen lodge is full, we may book a similar lodge of the same level. Rooms are normally twin or double sharing. Single rooms cost extra and are not always available. Your quote states the type of vehicle for your trip.
To arrange an airport transfer we need your flight details. If your flight is delayed, we will try to adjust your pickup, but a later transfer cannot be guaranteed.
We take reasonable care in choosing suppliers and planning your trip. We are not responsible for the acts or failures of suppliers or other events beyond our reasonable control. Safaris carry natural risks, such as wild animals and remote roads, and by travelling you accept the risks that come with them.
Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under Kenyan law, or our responsibility for death or injury caused by our negligence. Apart from that, where the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, and our total liability for a trip is limited to the price you paid for it.
If something goes wrong, tell your guide or us straight away so we can fix it during your trip. Please confirm any complaint to us in writing within 14 days after your trip ends. If we cannot settle a dispute by talking, we will try mediation before either side goes to court. Kenyan law governs these terms and the courts of Kenya have jurisdiction.
